Basic Minimum Qualifications:

• MS in Chemical Engineering or related engineering field and 10 yr. experience; PhD in Chemical Engineering or related engineering field and 6 yr. experience.

Provide Principal level guidance on lead engineering roles for new ingredient development.  Proven ability to manage complex new ingredient development projects.  Experience in new product development from concept to commercialization or in technical support of manufacturing operations.  In particular, experience in downstream purification and refining unit operations, creation of mass and energy balances, new product and process development including scale-up at Pilot scale, commercializing new technology, statistical analysis and design of experiments.  Capable of working independently to evaluate, select, and apply broad engineering/scientific techniques.  Capable of clearly summarizing and communicating engineering and technology to diverse audiences.



Scope of Responsibility:  

• Provide engineering expertise to successfully develop, pilot, and commercialize new processes and products.  Leads or acts as key technical contributor to complex new ingredient development projects including M&A support with very high impact on the business. Contributes to group compliance of all relevant Safety, OSHA, EPA, and Corporate guidelines. This position works with research teams composed of engineers, chemists, analytical scientists, sensory and applications specialists, regulatory, legal, and operations team members to develop novel new ingredients and processing methods to economically produce innovative new food ingredients.

Functional Expertise (Technical Knowledge):  

• Design lab, pilot, and commercial trials followed by evaluation and documentation of results.  Applies sound engineering principals to innovation of process development and reduction of capital and operating costs across all projects.  Develops economic evaluations, implements new technology, and provides post-commercialization troubleshooting.  Provides support to startups and launches of new processes at commercial scale globally.  Develops and provides expertise in unit operation performance and integration to optimize economic return on new products and processes.  Demonstrates coaching skills to deliver results where high levels of ambiguity exist.
